Celebration & 3K Walk

Hunger Hike is back in Riehle Plaza!! Join us to close out Hunger Hike and celebrate our success.

Celebration – 1:00 pm – Riehle Plaza (No speeches.  Just fun.)

  • Enjoy live music from former LUM Emergency Shelter director, Briton Weise
  • Plus: Clowns | Boilermaker Special | Purdue Pete
  • And New This Year: pose for photos with the Glass Slipper Princess, Apple Princess, and Enchanted Rose Princess

Walk – 2:00 pm 

  • Take part in a mass 3K walk along the Wabash Heritage Trail

Due to COVID-19 — We strongly encourage everyone at Hunger Hike this year to wear a mask.  Together we can help protect the most vulnerable among us.

Micro Walks

Don’t feel ready to take part in a large outdoor event?  No Problem!  We’ll also have several micro-walks throughout Greater Lafayette.

Each walk will take place at a local park or nature area and will be hosted by a Hunger Hike volunteer.  Stripped of all the music or food trucks, they provide a fun, socially distanced way to share in the spirit of the day with your fellow Hikers.

All walks start at 2:00 pm sharp!  Spaces are limited so sign up early.

T-Shirts & More

The average cotton t-shirt takes more than 700 gallons of water to produce and creates more than 30 pounds of carbon.  That’s a huge environmental cost.  So in an effort to be better stewards of our planet, our giveaways are going to look a little different this year.

Anyone who makes a donation can now get a Hunger Hike table tent.  

  • This beautiful, high quality table tent features a brief interfaith ritual that you and your family can use throughout the year as a way to remember where your food comes from and why Hunger Hike is so important.
  • Table tents will be distributed to all donors (while supplies last) at both Riehle Plaza and all Micro Walk sites.  

Still want a Hunger Hike t-shirt?  No problem.  While we may not be placing a mass order for every donor and volunteer, our t-shirts are still available for purchase.  

  • Cost: $6 ($8 for XXL)
  • You can buy them right on the donation form.
  • Deadline is September 9th!!
  • All t-shirts must be ordered in advance.

Both T-shirts and Table Tents can be picked up on September 19th at either Riehle Plaza or any of the Micro Walk sites.      

Plus anyone who raises at least $250 can get a Hunger Hike Hero yard sign!

Volunteer

We’ll need plenty of help on Sunday the 19th to make Hunger Hike a success.  Have a little extra time?  Why not lend a hand?

There are lots of tasks to choose from.  We need people to:

  • Set Up
  • Take donations
  • Hand out T-shirts and Table Tents
  • Distribute Bottled Water and Fruit
  • Help with Clean Up
